mission and history
Mission
At the core of our mission is the desire to cultivate a community of individuals who wholeheartedly believe in their worthiness to lead the life they're meant to lead. We champion authenticity and bravery, nurturing everyone to embrace (and remember) their true selves. We aim to foster opportunities and connections where individuals not only feel a sense of belonging but also understand that they are profoundly worthy. We believe this is possible from the workplace to the home. Join us on this journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and building a life that aligns with your deepest calling.
History
This work began with the founding of the Bounce Back Project, a collaborative of three healthcare systems whose purpose was to impact the lives of individuals and communities through health and happiness. The Bounce Back project was born out of a loss in Dr. Martin’s home community of Buffalo, Minnesota when two of the highly-respected and loved friends and physician colleagues passed away in 2014. These deaths caused him to pause and ask some important questions - not only about how fragile life is but also about the choices we make each day.
As the Bounce Back Project expanded, the impact was measurable. In the school districts and communities where this project existed, there was a 25% decrease in bullying and a 25% decrease in teenagers needing to access the Emergency Room for a mental health diagnosis. In those same communities, there was a 15% decline in adults accessing Emergency Rooms for mental health diagnoses.
Inspired by this impact, Dr. Martin expanded the model and in the decade since the inception of the Bounce Back Project, Innovations in Resilience, and Bounce Travels, thousands of people have heard our presentations or taken part in our personal development programs. Educators, students, business leaders, and healthcare providers have experienced renewed purpose and meaning and developed the courage to live a life founded on strong relationships and improved social connections.
Our roots: The bounce back project
The Bounce Back Project has a single purpose — to impact the lives of individuals, communities, and organizations by promoting health through happiness. Numerous studies have shown that using simple tools to help us retrain our mind to focus on the positive can increase feelings of well-being and decrease feelings of depression. These tools can also open us to the possibility of greater social connections, improved sleep, enhanced memory, and stronger immune system function. It’s simple… and life changing.
